How a Withdrawal Is Handled

The same four stages apply at every licensed casino. The time each stage takes varies by operator, method and bank.

1

Identity confirmed

Your age and identity are verified, usually at sign-up. Extra documents may be requested later.

2

Request placed

You choose an amount above the operator's minimum. The request cannot be reversed.

3

Operator review

The casino checks the request against its terms and security rules before releasing it.

4

Payment sent

Money goes back to your deposit method where possible; your bank or wallet then credits it.

Register entries for all operators above were reviewed on 30 September 2026. Each casino is assessed in words on six criteria — see How we assess casinos.

Two directions

Paying In and Taking Out Are Not the Same

Deposits and withdrawals go through different checks, so a method that works one way may not work the other.

Deposits

Paying into your account

Your deposit limit applies to every payment method
  • Debit cards, e-wallets and bank payments are common
  • Prepaid vouchers work for deposits only
  • Credit cards are not accepted in Great Britain
  • Only deposit money you can afford to lose
Withdrawals

Taking money out

Paid back to your deposit method where possible
  • Identity must be verified first
  • Each operator sets a minimum amount
  • Requests cannot be cancelled once made
  • Timing depends on the operator, the method and your bank

Why a first withdrawal can take longer

If the casino has not yet collected every document it needs, it may ask for them when you first withdraw. Uploading clear copies when you register usually avoids this. It is a legal requirement, not a sign of a problem.

Keeping gambling money separate

Some players use a separate bank account or a gambling block on their main card to keep spending visible. Many UK banks offer a gambling block in their app, which you can switch on at any time.

Minimums, Fees and Checks at the Six Casinos

What each operator states on its own UK pages about withdrawal minimums, fees and checks, as read on 30 September 2026. These details change, so confirm them in the cashier before you pay in.

Where Your Money Goes Back To

You cannot always choose where a withdrawal is paid. Operators generally return money to the method you deposited with, and when you have used more than one method they apply a set order. William Hill says withdrawals go to the method with the highest net deposit; Grosvenor applies a net-deposit policy, paying back to the methods you deposited with first; and at Sky Vegas, Apple Pay withdrawals go back to the card used with Apple Pay.

This is normal practice rather than a sign that something is wrong: returning money to its source is part of how licensed operators meet anti-money-laundering rules. It does mean the simplest approach is to deposit and withdraw with the same method, and to keep that method open until your balance has reached you.

If a Payment Goes Wrong

  1. Check the account history. The transaction list shows whether a withdrawal is pending, approved or paid, and to which method.
  2. Check for outstanding verification. A request for documents is the most common reason a withdrawal waits. Upload what is asked for through the account, not by replying to unexpected emails.
  3. Contact the operator. Use the help centre and keep a note of the date and any reference number.
  4. Make a formal complaint. Every licensed operator must have a complaints procedure, set out in its terms.
  5. Go to the dispute service. When eight weeks go by with no fix, the independent dispute resolution service named in the operator's terms can review it free of charge.
  6. Consider a gambling block. Many UK banks let you block gambling payments on your card from the banking app, which is a simple way to add a pause if spending is becoming a worry.
